The concept of the treatment is based on my experience as a Medical Doctor (Russia) from 1980-1992 and as an acupuncturist from 1987-Present.

Pathogenesis:

Every muscle strain (MSI), injury or ischemia results in cells' damage. Damaged cells release intracellular substances: kinins, histamine, prostaglandins and other chemicals.  The intracellular chemicals induce edema,  inflammation and pain.

The inflammation process is a part of natural healing and efficient if the damage is not overwhelming or repetitive. Repetitive injuries (RSI) compromise the healing. Substantial injury requires more time for recovery, up to a few months. This is not an option for many patients.

The rehabilitation process goes slowly  because of compromised venous drainage and insufficient waste product removal. Therefore lymph and blood flow must be restored to complete the recovery. Usually every MSI or RSI is a complicated injury involving other structures attached to the muscle directly or indirectly. EIMS is designed to work on a muscle/nerve/tendon unit to restore the blood/lymph circulation and accelerate the healing process.

Treatment:

The treatment is an electrical stimulation of  a muscle by needles. One injured (sore) muscle requires the insertion of two needles. One needle is inserted in the most swollen or painful area to make the stimulation as direct as possible. The second needle is inserted in a specific area and helps to employ lower motor neurons of the injured muscle. The muscle stimulation through lower motor neurons executes complete and physiological muscle contraction which restores lymph and blood circulation and therefore accelerates healing process of the injured muscle . My technique is unique! because of the knowledge and skills required to stimulate the lower motor neurons. Average low back pain requires 5-6 sessions of 45-50 min each with the use of a few disposable needles per session.

The recovery period for such backaches is reduced from a standard 43-44 days to 14-16 with no long-term negative effects and no activity or work restriction. Follow up appointments are suggested in 3, 6 and 12 months after a course of treatments.
